Elden Ring: Opinions
The Souls series has become one of my favorites of all time in the last ten years, in large part because of its limitless potential for imagination when it comes to lore building. I love to soak up every ounce of speculation about what different aspects of the world could mean, and I love how open to interpretation the story is. Another reason they grew to become such beloved favorites to me – and by “they” I mean the Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls games, and by extension Bloodborne – is because of their famed difficulty. Something I found extremely offputting at first, Soulsborne games (as they’re often called now) have won me over because of that determining will to rise to the challenge and overcome it, which is the barrier for entry they ask of anyone. I’ve created some truly spectacular memories intertwined closely to these games, and feel the sense of accomplishment that surely was intended by developers. The games aren’t for everyone, for sure. However, I definitely feel that if those who have been curious, but cautious, in the past with a Soulsborne game are looking at Elden Ring with the same kind of curiosity, they should consider strongly giving it a go because it is one of the most rewarding games I’ve played in quite sometime, and in terms of From Software’s legacy of “difficult games,” Elden Ring is perhaps their most accessible.
